как сохранить зимой руки и ноги в теплеWhen cold weather comes and the temperature drops are the first to suffer the arms and legs. Why is this happening? How to keep winter hands and feet warm?

Using the system of regulation of heat the body maintains a constant body temperature (37°C). While decreasing the temperature, the blood circulation slows down because of narrowing of the blood vessels, in order to minimize heat loss and protect the vital organs.

Cracks on the skin, superficial frostbite or severe frostbite occur mostly when the air temperature is below 0°C, but can occur even at temperatures from 0°C to +10°C. This can occur when a prolonged stay outside in the wet and windy weather. People suffering from Raynaud’s syndrome, are particularly sensitive to cold, because for unknown reasons, the reaction is constriction of the blood vessels of the extremities to such a high degree that drained areas turn white, become cold and loose their sensitivity. Optimal protection of the hands and feet in the winter is the only right decision.

So your hands won’t get cold

  • Multi-layered system of clothing, as the air which enters between the layers is an insulating substance. For example, on top of silk gloves, you can wear a pair of gloves made of sheep skin or polar fleece gloves.
  • You can purchase termperate, which are connected by an insulating material and a breathable structure, or warming gloves that run using lithium batteries.
  • Mittens retain heat better than gloves because the fingers are together, but they are not very practical due to the reduced activity of the fingers. In this case it is better to buy mittens with three fingers.
  • For work or doing outdoor sports, you can buy waterproof gloves with a waterproof coating.
  • In the cold season, you can put gloves in a heating element which is activated upon contact with air.

How to keep feet warm

  • First of all, do not forget that poor blood circulation is associated with chilblains. Refrain from too tight socks and tight shoes that restrict the foot and make them more sensitive to cold.
  • So the feet were dry and warm, choose socks made of polyester fiber, wool or acrylic instead of cotton socks, which absorb moisture and evaporation, but bad wither, enhancing the feeling of cold. In the case of extreme cold, you can wear a pair of thin silk socks and a pair of woolen socks.
  • Even fur-lined shoes will not protect you from the cold if it gets wet and contains a fairly thick lining that insulates the foot from cold, coming from the earth.
  • You can buy rechargeable heated insoles that help to maintain a constant temperature for several hours in a row. If for you it is very expensive, use a disposable heated insoles.
