These tools include salicylic acid. The use of salicylic acid is quite diverse: this drug allows to cope with many diseases of the skin and become beautiful.


Features salicylic acid

First salicylic acid was obtained by the Italian chemist Raffaele Piria from willow bark (Salix in Latin, and that is reflected in the name of the acid) in 1838. The chemist determined that the acidic component of the glycoside salicin, found in willow bark, has a strong anti-inflammatory properties.

Later Raphael Perea managed to synthesize salicylic (or, as they said, Spiriva – from the name of a shrub, which also contains this substance) acid. This point, many believe the real revolution in medicine. New anti-inflammatory agent was successfully used for the manufacture of various drugs, the most famous of which is aspirin for internal and salicylic acid for topical use.

Salicylic acid has long been used to treat rheumatism. Today is a substance that has antiseptic, irritating and keratolytic action, actively used for treatment of various dermatological diseases, including cosmetology.

In pharmacies you can find alcoholic solution of salicylic acid or ointment with its contents. In addition, salicylic acid is a required component of almost all funds intended for the care of problematic skin.


Indications for use

The use of a solution of salicylic acid is indicated for a variety of dermatological problems. This:

  • Inflammatory skin diseases of infectious and noninfectious origin.
  • Burns;
  • Psoriasis;
  • Colorful (pityriasis) versicolor;
  • Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating);
  • Hyperkeratosis (skin induration due to the lack of exfoliation of dead cells);
  • Seborrhea;
  • Eczema;
  • Hair loss;
  • Fungal diseases of the feet;
  • Calluses and corns;
  • Acne and comedones (“black dots”);
  • Dermatitis and dermatosis.

In cosmetology salicylic acid is used for skin rejuvenation. This substance promotes rapid exfoliation of surface skin cells. Thus, stimulates the regeneration of the epidermis, and the skin looks more fresh and young.

In addition, salicylic acid is one of the most popular means of getting rid of acne. Softening the top layer of skin, salicylic acid prevents the formation of plugs in the sebaceous glands and dissolves the existing tube, helps to get rid of acne and black spots”. On inflamed parts salicylic acid is applied to the point: it relieves inflammation, dries the pimple and promotes its rapid disappearance. As a rule, to combat acne use one or two per cent solution of salicylic acid in alcohol.

Salicylic acid can be used to remove age spots and scars that remain after acne.

You just need to wipe the affected area with a solution of salicylic acid once or twice a day, and soon spots are pale, and then completely disappear.


Salicylic acid: application instructions

Allowed only external application of salicylic acid in alcohol solution or ointment. The dot product is applied on inflammation (such as acne), or calluses, rough skin. If the skin is oily, then it can be cleaned with a weak solution of salicylic acid to get rid of inflammation and comedones. But it should be noted that because of the alcohol content in the solution, this tool can lead to the dryness of the skin. In addition, the alcohol solution is better not to use the owners of sensitive skin.

Salicylic acid from corns

To get rid using salicylic acid from corns, you can use special patches or just regularly wipe with a rough skin with a cotton pad soaked in an acid solution. Effective enough packs: generously soaked in an alcoholic solution of salicylic acid a cotton pad using a conventional band-aid fix on corn and leave overnight. After that the top layer of the corn is scraped. Treatments continue daily until complete disappearance of corn.

Instead of a solution of salicylic acid, you can use aspirin as the most common, insoluble. They are turned into powder, mixed with a small amount of water to obtain a thick paste and applied on the corn, put a band-aid and leave overnight.

Can prophylactically treat your feet with a solution of salicylic acid. This will not only help in the fight against calluses and keep feet smooth and soft, but will serve as an excellent prevention of fungal diseases.
