It's been approximately 84 years since Hedi Slimane presented his debut collection for the new, accent-free house of Celine during Paris Fashion Week five weeks ago. Following the time-honored cycle of backlash, everyone got very angry about it — only to then be reminded that getting very angry was bad and unproductive. We all moved on, and now here we are, faced with the first red carpet look courtesy of Slimane's Celine. And on Dakota Johnson!

Johnson — who we should note is contracted by Gucci as a face of the Italian house's Bloom fragrance — arrived at "Suspiria"'s Los Angeles premiere on Wednesday evening in a very red, very sparkly and very not-Philo-ian dress by Celine. While the piece itself isn't exactly a carbon copy of the itty-bitty, '70s-adjacent frocks Slimane famously instituted while at Saint Laurent, it's close: This one features bell sleeves and voluminous shoulder detailing, plus an asymmetric skirt ruffle. In its vintage flair, the dress is actually somewhat reminiscent of some of the less eccentric party wares at Alessandro Michele's Gucci, which may explain why Johnson (and her stylist, Kate Young) gravitated toward it in the first place.

At any rate, Slimane's Celine is now making the red carpet rounds, and just in time for awards season — uncoincidentally, I'm sure. Lady Gaga did already show off the first of Slimane's Celine handbags in August, a month before his runway debut. More to come.
